Orange, a subsidiary of France Telecom, will add a press-to-talk walkie-talkie service, the Wall Street Journal reported today. A spokesman for Orange refused to confirm such plans or discuss a timeline, but the company has a press conference scheduled for tomorrow, the paper said. Nextel pioneered the technology about a decade ago; more recently, Verizon Wireless and Vodafone introduced competing services in the second half of last year. While Motorola already is supplying P2T handsets, Nokia will start shipping its versions in the second quarter of this year, and Siemens will launch its line sometime around the middle of the year, the paper said.
