Icom unveils P25 migration solution

Aug 22, 2005 12:40 PM

Icom announced a three-tier suite of portable and mobile radios designed to ease the migration of public-safety agencies to APCO’s Project 25 digital standard.

The F70 portables and F1720 mobiles each come in three versions. One is fully P25 compliant for agencies that already have made the transition; another is P25-upgradable with the use of optional firmware for agencies that are planning to migrate in the near future; and the third requires firmware and module options to bring them into P25 compliance, for agencies whose migration strategies are longer term.

The radios are available in full keypad and partial keypad versions, as well as wideband VHF and UHF models. Each radio is MIL STD tested and rated IP-X7 submersible, which means they will work after being submersed in 3 feet of water for 30 minutes!
