Cognio debuts laptop-based Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer

Jun 21, 2005 10:50 AM

Cognio, a spectrum analyzer company, introduced the first laptop-based radio frequency spectrum analysis solution for Wi-Fi networks, called Intelligent Spectrum Management System (ISMS) Mobile.

ISMS Mobile will produce full spectrum analysis capabilities, identifying specific sources of interference and locations of interference that propose a potential challenge to the security and performance of wireless networks.

The system will allow network managers to view 802.11 RF spectrum in real-time for troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks; detect and identify specific interfering devices such as Bluetooth, cordless phones, microwave ovens and video cameras; create graphical displays of Wi-Fi spectrum in nine simultaneously charts and graphs; and analyze all Wi-Fi certified spectrum bands of spectrum in use today, including 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g.

The ISMS Mobile solution costs $3995.
