Motorola to upgrade Nextel P2T infrastructure

Jan 4, 2005 12:01 PM

Motorola recently announced it has entered into an agreement with Nextel to implement Next Generation Dispatch (NGD), an IP-based P2T call-processing engine. Used with Motorola’s iDEN technology, NGD is designed to replace the call processing system currently used in Nextel’s nationwide network, Motorola said.

The NGD development contract includes development of the IP based P2T server, associated hardware needed to deploy the solution in Nextel’s largest markets, plus the development of an all-frame-relay backhaul solution from cell sites to the switching core, Motorola said.
