Siemens, Flarion to co-develop 450 MHz products

Oct 8, 2004 12:00 PM

Siemens Communications and Flarion Technologies announced today that would result in Siemens integrating Flarion’s Flash-OFDM mobile broadband technology into its solutions for the 450 MHz band. Specifically, Flarion will develop the 450 MHz equipment to Siemens’ specifications; Siemens plans to introduce an end-to-end solution for Flash-OFDM, including systems integration services, by second quarter 2005.

According to Siemens, its research indicates that Eastern European operators without UMTS licenses in particular are seeking an affordable mobile broadband solution for the 450 MHz band, which previously had been occupied by analog mobile telephone operators, but which has been freed up by the advent of digital mobile communications devices.
