The City of Grand Haven, Mich., has deployed a citywide Wi-Fi network developed by Grand Haven-based Ottawa Wireless. The network, operated and managed by the city, covers Grand Haven’s six square miles and extends 15 miles into Lake Michigan, according to the company. In addition to high-speed Internet service, users can leverage voice over IP service. One enterprise in the area, Yogi Bear Campgrounds, markets the service to its visitors. More than 2 million tourists—who can log onto the network for $4.99 per day or $16.99 per week—visit the region annually. Residents can tap into the service for $20 per month; an additional $5 per month gives them “citywide mobility,” according to Ottawa Wireless.
