Motorola this week announced its commercial push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) clients are available for Symbian Series 60 and UIQ mobile devices, regardless of the manufacturer.

With the Motorola PoC clients, mobile operators are able to develop walkie-talkie-style services to market much quicker. However, the possibilities are not just limited to voice communications, according to Michael Krutz, vice president of Motorola Networks’ core networks division.

"The Motorola PoC clients are an important addition to Motorola's PoC portfolio, as they offer operators the opportunity to increase take-up of push-to-X services with the widest possible range of handsets," Krutz said in a prepared statement. "In the coming months we plan to offer customers a series of additional features for the Symbian Client including push-to-X services such as push-to-view."
