Nokia inks HSDPA deal with T-Mobile in Europe

T-Mobile yesterday announced that it has chosen Nokia to supply an HSDPA solution for the wireless carrier in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Rollout of HSDPA—the latest available evolution for GSM-based carriers—will begin in Germany next year and then move to the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, according to Joachim Horn, technical director of T-Mobile Germany.
“Deploying the Nokia leading-edge HSDPA solution will enable us to offer true mobile broadband access and new services to our customers," Horn said in a prepared statement.
Serving nine markets in Europe and the United States, T-Mobile claimed about 80 million customers during the second quarter of 2005. The Nokia deal does not include an HSDPA buildout in the United States.
