NTIA Administrator Nancy J. Victory announced that Fredrick R. Wentland, director of Spectrum Plans and Policies at NTIA, has been appointed NTIA's new associate administrator for Spectrum Management. Associate Administrator Wentland, a 22-year veteran of NTIA, succeeds William Hatch, who retired last year.

Responsibilities of the Office of Spectrum Management include distribution of spectrum to 63 federal agencies; engineering and analysis relative to interference resolution; and management of the Interdepartment Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC).
