The SDR Forum soon will announce the formation of the Public-Safety Special Interest Group (SIG), which will be charged with getting vendors and public-safety organizations more involved in the forum’s initiatives to promote the development and deployment of software-defined radio technologies. “Public-safety already is involved in the SDR Forum to a degree, but we want to get our information and message out to the broader community,” said Fred Frantz, SDR Forum member and director of law enforcement communications for L-3 Communications Government Services division. The SIG will hold workshops at IWCE 2004 in Las Vegas next month and at the SDR Forum’s general meeting to be held in Germany in April.
