APCO announces call-taker standard

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials released a preliminary standard that addresses call handling pertaining to missing and exploited children. According to the association, development of the standard was a collaborative effort between APCO, the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch, the National AMBER Alert Initiative, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the National Emergency Number Association. The 45-day public review and comment period for the standard began Oct. 26 and will end Dec. 10.
