APCO offers fire communications course

Jul 1, 2006 12:00 PM

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) released its new fire service communications-training course, “Fire Service Communications, First Edition.” The course addresses firefighting and fire service apparatus and equipment; the role of the fire-service telecommunicator; and training on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's National Incident Management System and Incident Command System, covering FEMA IS-700 and IS-100 training requirements.

In other news, APCO dedicated its “Walk of Heroes” to Kurt Kruger at a ceremony held at the organization's Daytona Beach, Fla., headquarters on June 26. Kruger, who died in October 2005, was an APCO Wisconsin Chapter Executive Council representative and a fire instructor at Madison Area Technical College.
