Calif. Senate approves RFID privacy bill

The California State Senate approved Bill 768, the Information Protection Act of 2006, in a 30-7 vote. Bill 768 requires the California Research Bureau to conduct research into the use of RFID in government-issued, remotely readable documents. The bureau also must address the security and privacy implications of the technology's use.
