FCC gives additional spectrum to MSS operators

Dec 16, 2005 11:30 AM

The FCC recently announced that it had increased the spectrum allocation to TMI Communications and ICO Satellite services. The two remaining operators in the 2 GHz MSS band each will receive 20 MHz, with 10 MHz in the uplink band and 10 MHz in the downlink band. The FCC said it increased the allocation so that the two operators could provide “more robust services” to first responders, and to offer broadband satellite services to rural locations.
