Report: Mexico soon to release 800 MHz spectrum auction rules

Mexico is expected to release later this month bidding rules for a planned auction of satellite positions and radio frequencies, the Wall Street Journal reported today. The auction will include 800 MHz spectrum to be used for push-to-talk communications. According to the paper, Mexican wireless carriers America Movil SA and Grupo Iusacell SA are considering a push into the space pioneered and dominated by Nextel Communications.
