AXCESS, TVL integrate RFID systems at major university

Aug 4, 2004 12:00 PM

A major university will implement an integrated radio frequency identification system to track laptops and other computer equipment, the companies said this week. The system marries AXCESS’s ActiveTag RFID technology to TVL’s WiseTrack asset-management software. The project is the first phase of what will become a campus-wide asset-management system, the companies said. The name of the university will not be disclosed. The protection of IT assets gained a higher profile recently when two computer hard drives were reported missing last month from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Los Alamos (N.M) laboratory.
