Long-range RFID tags identify vehicles in the UK

Identec Solutions announced that U.K.-based Hills Numberplates would use its long-range radio frequency identification (RFID) tags and readers for the e-Plates initiative to identify vehicles in the United Kingdom. The e-Plates project uses battery-powered RFID tags embedded in the plates to identify motor vehicles in real time, enabling the identification of license plates on vehicles in all weather conditions, even if the vehicle is moving. The ePlates project is one of several systems currently being tested by the U.K. government. Read the full news release.
