Study: RFID market clearly on upswing

Jan 15, 2004 12:00 PM

Annual revenue generated by the radio frequency identification market worldwide will climb to $3.1 billion to $3.8 billion by 2008, according to a report published by ABI Research (www.abiresearch.com) in Oyster Bay, N.Y. The market is expected to generate revenues between $1.5 billion and $1.7 billion this year and increase from the roughly $1.3 billion generated in 2003, according to ABI. The firm attributed the accelerated growth to large-scale deployments being undertaken by Wal-Mart and the U.S. Department of Defense.
