VeriSign to operate critical RFID directory

Jan 15, 2004 12:00 PM

VeriSign has been tapped by international standards organization EPCglobal to provide the Object Naming Service (ONS) root directory for the EPCglobal network. The network enables trading partners to use radio frequency identification (RFID) and electronic product code (EPC) technology to capture and share information on items throughout the supply chain. The ONS root directory creates a unique identifier for each container in a shipment.
