Shulman Rogers Facilitates Radio System Upgrade for Los Angeles County

POTOMAC, Md.--On behalf of Los Angeles County, California, the law firm of Shulman Rogers Gandal Pordy & Ecker, P.A. has successfully negotiated an 800 MHz rebanding agreement with Sprint Nextel Communications and Harris Corporation. The agreement, negotiated well in advance of the Federal Communications Commission's negotiations deadline, will provide the County with a new $20 million Project 25 radio system to be installed by Harris, at no cost to the County.

"We are honored to have been selected by the County to negotiate this Agreement on their behalf, and we are pleased to have been able to assist the County in obtaining a state-of-the-art radio system for County employees at no cost to the County," said Alan Tilles, Chairman of the Shulman Rogers Telecommunications Department. "This is a win-win for the County, Harris, Sprint Nextel and the FCC's rebanding program. With our recent successes for Orleans County and Genesee County, New York, the Firm has demonstrated its ability to reach agreement on the most difficult rebanding cases."

The early success of the negotiation will significantly improve the speed at which entities in Southern California will be able to complete their rebanding projects. The agreement has already been approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Sprint Nextel, and the 800 MHz Transition Administrator. Shulman Rogers has been representing over 200 municipal entities across the country in 800 MHz rebanding negotiations, in addition to the other wireless work which the Firm performs on behalf of these entities. The agreement was negotiated by Alan Tilles and Jeffrey Rubin.
