Anritsu recently unveiled the Link Master drive-test device, which is designed to test LTE, W-CDMA, HSPA, GSM and EVDO networks. Integrated GPS enables real-time mapping of coverage areas. The device can plug into just about any user device, including smart phones, laptops and tablet PCs. A key feature of the drive-tester is its ability to measure handoffs between a 4G LTE network and a 3G network, which particularly will be important in the early stages of LTE rollouts, when footprints will be small, the company said. A companion analyzer lets technicians capture and map all of the data generated by the drive-tester to visually identify trouble spots, which makes diagnosis faster and easier.
