Initial meeting with FCC officials ‘encouraging’ for transforming 900 LMR channels to LTE
“I think the people in the room probably represent 95% of the incumbents in the space,” Crosby said. “I think everybody was in agreement that this is an innovative and novice approach to providing broadband for private land mobile CII folks—critical infrastructure and others—and we have more to do.
“We obviously are prepared to share more details about organization, band plans, how we’re going to get things done. It’s going to eventually result in a petition for rulemaking. We’re all actively working on this, so I thought it was a very good first meeting. We just need to keep moving and keep developing, and it will be a very positive outcome for all of the parties.”
Crosby expressed optimism about the situation and said it is important for the stakeholders in the band to continue their cooperative efforts.
“It’s positive, so it’s all good work,” he said. “We’ve got more work to do. We knew we’ve got more work to do, and we’ll get that done.”
