Kenwood USA to unveil dual-mode radios that can operate on P25 and NXDN systems
This dual-mode flexibility will not be limited to Kenwood USA’s portable-radio portfolio, as the company is announcing plans to include this capability into its systems products beginning in the fourth quarter of this year, Cameron said.
“We also have a next generation of systems products that will be [available] late this year that go along with that same theme,” she said. “It won’t be a P25-NXDN infrastructure, but it’s a complete change from the way that our current repeaters work now. So, it will be a whole new generation of products across the board.”
“The change to the repeater initially is more of a firmware change; it’s not a hardware change on the repeater. Then, we’ll have a hardware change in 2015.”
Cameron said IWCE attendees can get more information about Kenwood’s dual-mode offering in Booth 2001, which will include interactive displays as part of the show’s exhibit hall on Wednesday and Thursday.
