Vertex Standard unveils IP-based EVX-Link solution to connect disparate DMR Tier II systems
One such vertical market is the education sector, Chenicek said.
“If you have 10 schools within a county, and each of those schools have coverage on their own campuses and not necessarily need to talk to each other,” he said. “However, if there is a time when all of those schools need to be contacted immediately and concurrently, each of the EVX radios at each of the school locations could have an all-call talk group connected via EVX-Link, as if all of the schools were on one campus talking ubiquitously with each other.”
Supporting communications for those supporting response efforts in locations that require aid is another potential use of the EVX-Link, according to Chenicek.
“There are so many opportunities,” Chenicek said. “For instance, if the American Red Cross needs to drop in an emergency solution somewhere in the world that has a problem, all you need is Ethernet and power, and you’ve got coverage.”
Vertex Standard plans to begin shipping EVX-Link devices in June, Chenicek said. Although the current configuration supports DMR Tier II communications via a wired Internet connection, the company is pursuing plans to let EVX-Link leverage wireless connectivity and possibly even support other communications systems.
