JPS Interoperability Solutions to launch April 15 with assets of former JPS Communications
JPS Interoperability Solution technically is a startup, but the company’s situation is a stark contrast to the early days of JPS Communications almost three decades ago, Scott said.
“It’s completely different, in terms of the challenge,” he said. “It’s so much easier than it was when there were three people working in a store front, trying to come up with the money.
“Now, the reputation has allowed me to bring investors in who see this as an opportunity to make a good investment. This reputation that has been built over the years hasn’t stopped.”
In addition to returning employees, JPS Interoperability Solutions also will be hiring new personnel, such as engineers to spearhead research-and-development efforts for new products that address interoperability needs associated with emerging technologies, Scott said.
For instance, JPS Interoperability Solutions officials are monitoring efforts to introduce public-safety LTE systems such as FirstNet into first-responder communications and understand the need that first-responder agencies may have to integrate information from LTE and LMR networks into a common platform, Kaluta said.
“I believe that we’ll be cognizant of that requirement and certainly will be engaged to stay abreast of both,” he said. “We understand that we’re an interoperability company. Whether that’s embedding our product into somebody else’s LTE core or that nature, certainly we would be very open to that, if that’s the solution that’s needed.”
But Kaluta emphasized that the JPS Interoperability Solutions strategy does not call for customers adopting new technologies at the expense of discarding existing systems.
“We want to remain constant in the fact that our new enhancements—while they may bring new and greater capability—will always have a method to be backwards compatible to that installed based out there,” Kaluta said. “Our focus has always been that economical solution to meet the customer’s needs, versus forklift-type wholesale changes of their infrastructure.”
JPS Interoperability Solutions will launch its new website on Friday at www.jpsinterop.com.
This makes me very happy.
This makes me very happy. Most of our new Harris conventional radsio systems use the SVN-12 voter and I was a bit worried that we would have support problems in the future.
I was so surprised Raytheon
I was so surprised Raytheon dropped the JPS line. This left a gapping hole with interop solutions. Glad to see theres a chance it might be back!
Congratulations – This is
Congratulations – This is great news for all the people and organizations that depend on JPS equipment and interoperability solutions. Good luck to all!
