U.S. Senate passes ‘Kari’s Law’ legislation by unanimous consent
Of course, if “Kari’s Law” legislation is passed by Congress, it would have to be approved by President Donald Trump to become law—an action that would be expected. While these necessary steps to make the “Kari’s Law” legislation federal law are expected to occur, it is unclear how quickly it would occur.
FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, an outspoken supporter of “Kari’s Law” efforts at all levels of government when he was an FCC commissioner years ago, applauded the Senate vote.
“I am pleased that the U.S. Senate unanimously passed Kari’s Law,” Pai said in a prepared statement. “This legislation will help ensure that every call to 911 directly connects those in need with those who can help.
“I also commend Hank Hunt, Kari's father, for channeling his pain into a passion for change. Thanks to his efforts and those of many others, Americans will one day be able to call 911 and reach first responders without having to dial an access code. I hope that this critical public-safety measure will soon become law.”
this will undoubtedly
this will undoubtedly increase misdial dispatches of emergency service personnel tremendously!!
911 was a mistake from the get go choosing the first two digits of every phone call made from a large phone system. 999 would have made much more sense!
