House Commerce Committee chairman Thomas Bliley Jr., R-Va., wins PCIA’s (Personal Communications Industry Association) Lifetime Achievement award for his demonstrated commitment and leadership in advancing the field of wireless communications. The Eugene C. Bowler Award goes to David Siddall, legal adviser to FCC Commissioner Susan Ness. Along with the awards, the PCIA Foundation also presents scholarship awards to students studying in the field of telecommunications.
Changes at Centurion International, Lincoln, NE: Vincent D. Abrams leaves Chief Automotive Systems, Grand Island, NE, as product marketing manager to join Centurion as product manager. Brad Hoffman, plant manager, advances to vice president of manufacturing. Rich Meyers takes over as plant manager after spending six years as operations manager for Tool Products in Minneapolis. Monty Rohde, plant manager of the battery division, moves up to corporate director of research and development. Henry Smith advances from quality assurance manager to director of corporate quality assurance.

David Kunze departs Noel Group, New York, as a national accounts manager, to join Gamber-Johnson, Stevens Point, WI, as eastern regional sales manager.
Ramon D. Ardizzone, chairman of Glenayre’s board of directors, Charlotte, NC, is appointed chairman of the PCIA Foundation, Arlington, VA.
Peter F. McCloskey, president of the Electronic Industries Association (EIA), Arlington, VA, wins the 1998 EIA Medal of Honor, the association’s highest award.
Charles D. Kissner, chairman of Digital Microwave, San Jose, CA, joins Spectrian’s board of directors, Sunnyvale, CA.
Richard B. Peabody, president of Harris Farinon Canada, Quebec, advances to vice president of the company’s Farinon division in Redwood Shores, CA. He succeeds Ricardo Diaz, who is retiring.
Elaine Jones joins Davicom Technologies, Quebec, Canada, as director of marketing and sales for Davicom’s new U.S. subsidiary, Davicom Technologies Ltd., after operating a marketing consultation business informally known as Elaine Jones Marketing and PR in Salt Lake City. Her office is located in West Jordan, UT.
