Telex introduces new Vega IP-223
The Vega IP-223 IP Network remote adapter provides a reliable means of remotely controlling up to two, two-way-radio base stations. The adapter can be used in conjunction with the model C-6200 IP console or the C-Soft Windows console. Programming of the IP-223 is accomplished through your Web browser interface just like the C-6200 console.
The IP-223 is interconnected to the distant remote consoles by means of any available Wide Area Network (WAN) connection. Simply connect a standard 10/100 TX cable to the back of the unit and assign it an address. This can include wireless connections.
The IP-223 provides four distinct modes of operation:
Local mode — The radio is connected to the IP-223 directly using the same connection pin-out as the DSP-223 allowing for simple migration.
Console Mode — Allows use of existing tone based legacy equipment. The IP-223 decodes the tone package from the back of the console and generates appropriate Ethernet traffic. Ethernet traffic is also decoded for the console to play. Supervisor and Crossmute functions are supported.
Tone Mode — The IP-223, based on Ethernet traffic, generates the keytones required to control any tone equipped radio circuit. This allows an existing radio to be connected and utilize its existing tone termination panel. This mode also supports a parallel analog console for local control.
Crosspatch Mode — Allows the mobile operator to set up a crosspatch to communicate with another user elsewhere within the radio system.
Front Panel features:
2×16 Backlit LCD display for all status information
Line and Intercom buttons to allow communications with consoles on the network during radio setup or maintenance
Front panel test points and level set potentiometers.
Local handset port for intercom back to console operator or PTT of the radio.
Rear Panel connections:
Two DB25 Connectors to the radio provides 7 digital outputs for channel selection, completely programmable per function tone
RJ-45 Ethernet connector supporting 10 and 100 Mbps operation
DB9 serial port with two active ports for later direct radio control and initial IP setup
System operation:
Two PTT modes with three programmable monitoring modes
PTT & monitor relays
CTCSS generation (64 frequencies)
F1 and F2 relays (programmable to any frequency or revert to F1). Relays can be placed in pair mode for separation from other function tones
COR input for receiver mute
Receive VOX circuit detect
Morse Code encoder for automatic station identification
Crosspatch initiation to another base station can be made using DTMF tone by mobile operators

Telex also boasts new Vega tone adapters
The Vega TRA-223 and 1223C tone-adapters provide a reliable means of remotely controlling two-way-radio base stations. The adapter can be used in conjunction with all Vega consoles, or other manufacturers’ (such as Motorola and MA-COM /Ericsson GE) remote consoles that use the industry-standard sequential tone-keying format. They are interconnected to the distant remote control console(s) by any voice-grade transmission medium such as a microwave link, a leased telephone line, or a twisted-pair 600-ohm line.
They are capable of decoding the PTT (push-to-talk/transmitter-on) and Monitor function tone sequence. The TRA-223 has a front panel dip-switch that allows you to select various options, such as two or four-wire line operation along with The TRA-223 provides the following features:
Front Panel:
Front panel test points and level setting potentiometers for;
Line Input Level Line Output Level Radio Transmit Modulation Monitor Timer
Rear Panel:
DB25 Connector to the radio
6 Pin TB connector for simple operation
RJ-45 connector to the telephone line (2-wire or 4-wire)jumper selectable oExternal DC power connection The 1223C and 1224B cards are designed to mount in a “Telco” type frame, similar to (or same as) Tellabs Type 10 or Dantel or Wecom Type 400 panels. Each panel holds up to 12 plug-in modules.
The 1223C provides transmit and receive audio processing, PTT and monitor function only. A jumper on the PC Board selects either two or four-wire mode of operation.
In the four-wire mode, the 1223C also may be jumper plug converted to full-duplex operation.
The 1224 relay card allows up to four frequency control, by adding a second 1224 relay card will expand your selection up to eight frequencies. The frequency-select relay may also be programmed for other purposes, such as to provide two or more independently interlocking groups.
Any pair of relays also may be programmed for momentary operation.

Midian rolls out multi-format paging and dialing encoder
Midian Electronics’ new paging and dialing encoder, the PDE-1, offers paging in multiple formats in the same system. The PDE-1 is capable of DTMF, POCSAG at 512, 1200, & 2400 baud, Two-Tone for Motorola’s Quick Call 2, GE Type 99, Reach, Plectron, and Avcall 2+2, and Five-Tone for EIA, Eurosignal, ZVEI, DZVEI, DDZVEI, CCIR, EEA, NATEL, and MODAT.
Features include a 10 number speed dial, an alias database, and an optional gooseneck microphone. Applications for the PDE-1 include using the unit as a test instrument or for on-site paging for hospitals, school campuses, factories, and industrial plants.
Midian also offers the UED-1 Series Products for Automatic Number Identification (ANI), tone decoding, transpond, and dialing. The UED-1 Series offers tone formats such as DTMF & Five-Tone for fleet management, DTMF & Two-Tone for activating sirens and paging, and Pulse Tone for HEAR systems.
Midian also has signaling products for Motorola’s MDC-1200 and M/A-COM’s G-Star for ANI and base station display decoding.

Neulink logs in with new radio modem
RF Industries’ Neulink Division has introduced the NL6000 wireless transceiver family of radio modems.
Comapny officials explained that NL6000 telemetry applications include data terminals, water management, remote data logging, oil and gas monitoring, irrigation control and security systems.
The 12 volt DC or battery-powered NL6000 is capable of operating in severe conditions and harsh environments with higher reliability and performance than competitive products. CRC, forward error correction and a powerful 288 Mips DSP chip are standard.
