Midian debuts repeater, interoperability switch

Midian Electronics has released its PR-10 simplex repeater maker with selective repeat. The PR-10 records incoming audio and then retransmits the audio into dead spots. The PR-10 also has a tone decoder to only retransmit validated pages for applications such as fire departments retransmitting two-tone pages into remote areas with poor radio coverage. Preconfigured cables for some radios are also available.

Midian also has released its IS-2 interoperability switch. The IS-2 has two ports to interoperate two different radio systems. For example a VHF P25 radio system can interoperate with a trunked UHF radio system or a Motorola MotoTRBO radio system can interoperate with a Kenwood NEXEDGE radio system. The IS-2 also has an enable/disable option for disabling the switch when interoperability is not desired using DTMF. For trunking systems the IS-2 has channel acquisition inputs and an audio buffer to store the incoming audio until the channel is acquired. Preconfigured cables for some radios are also available.
