Aiirmesh Communications has decided to deploy a smart antenna developed by Airgain to improve coverage of an 802.11 wireless broadband network serving Cerritos, Calif., a suburb 20 miles south of Los Angeles.
The Smart Wireless Bridge uses directional beam forming and automatic antenna steering technology to extend the range of 802.11-based client devices up to 1 mile in a line-of-site environment, according to Airgain. Aiirmesh CEO Stan Hirschman said in a prepared statement that the solution would result in better coverage, “especially … in challenging RF environments,” at lower cost compared to conventional solutions.
