FCC wireless attorney to participate in APCO symposium
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials announced that Jennifer Manner, senior counsel to FCC Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy, will speak at the Wireless Deployment Challenges and Realities Symposium scheduled to be held November 15-16, 2004 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Arlington, Va.
Manner, who advises Abernathy on wireless, technology and international issues, has written several books and articles on spectrum and international telecommunications issues, and teaches international telecommunications regulation at Georgetown University Law Center.
The symposium is designed to educate public-safety answering point (PSAP) managers, wireless industry support personnel, and policy makers on how to successfully deploy wireless enhanced 911 (E911) services. Currently, successful wireless E911 deployment from at least some carriers is reported from PSAPs serving only 40 percent of the U.S. population, APCO said.
