Motorola realigns business units
Motorola this week announced that it would realign its business units into four groups, effective January 1, 2005. CEO Edward Zander said in a statement that the realignment would provide “a more streamlined structure” that would make the company more flexible and quicker to capitalize on new opportunities.
The Commercial, Government and Industrial Solutions sector was renamed the Government and Enterprise sector. As the new name implies, the sector will increase its focus on the enterprise, according to spokeswoman Jennifer Weyrauch. “We have developed enterprise equipment for the U.S. Postal Service, UPS and Fedex, and we will be expanding that base,” Weyrauch said. To aid the effort, Motorola will add an enterprise business development group to the sector. “The enterprise is where the market is going. There are a lot of good business opportunities in that area,” Weyrauch said.
