EADS completes Nokia mobile radio buy
EADS yesterday announced that it has completed its purchase of Nokia’s Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) division.
EADS yesterday announced that it has completed its purchase of Nokia’s Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) division and that all PMR activities within EADS will be grouped in a new business line called EADS Secure Networks.
The announcement represents the finalization of a deal approved by the European Commission in July. EADS Secure Networks is focused on the PMR market in Europe, where it will be the lone vendor to offer highly secure digital radio systems and terminals based on the continent’s two leading standards, TETRA and TETRAPOL, according to a company press release.
EADS has installed 130 digital radio networks in 56 countries, with 30 of the networks being nationwide systems, according to the company.
