State of Kansas selects Alcatel WLAN solution
Alcatel will deploy wireless LAN switches and access points throughout facilities in the state of Kansas. The first deployment will be in the state capitol campus in Topeka, followed by the Department of Transportation. In addition, any public entity in the state will be allowed to purchase equipment under the contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Alcatel was selected for the project largely because of its acumen in network security, said Patrick Tierce the DOT’s security and network infrastructure manager, in a statement.
“Alcatel has integrated data security into its wireless LAN products to provide secure, seamless user access from wireless and wired LANs, as well as across the components of our existing mobility solutions,” he said. “Alcatel also ensures that stolen access points do not compromise the network and that rogue access points fail to connect.”
