Agency joins Tucson mobile wireless data network
The city of Tucson has purchased an upgradeable IP Series 32 private wireless data system from IPMobileNet. The Tucson Fire Department will use the system, which consists of three base stations, 130 mobile units and 4.9 GHz routers that will be installed in fire department vehicles. The system will operate in the 800 MHz band and will provide data rates of 32 kb/s and 64 kb/s, the company said.
In related news, the Northwest Fire/Rescue District has agreed to join the city’s wireless mobile data communications system. The district will purchase two additional base stations to boost radio coverage as well as 50 modems that will be installed in district vehicles. The district will utilize IPMobileNet’s IPNetwork controller and other infrastructure provided by the city of Tucson, the vendor said.
