WaveRider Communications announced that the Indianola, Iowa, Police Department has deployed the company’s MMT9000 mobile data terminals to establish mobile broadband communications for police personnel using a WaveRider LMS4000 900 MHz network. Indianola police officers now have access to driver license and vehicle registration information hosted on systems at other police departments and Department of Transportation databases.
The devices support VoIP, video, short message and data communications. Broadband access through the MMT9000 also lets officers monitor bank security and video surveillance systems from the squad car, the company said.
