The Federal Communications Commission Wednesday modified the rules for amateur radio service by adopting a Report and Order and Order on Reconsideration. The agency eliminated the Morse Code requirements for acquiring a general-class or amateur-extra-class amateur radio operator license. It also revised the operating privileged for technician-class licensees. In addition, the move resolves a petition filed by the American Radio Relay League for the partial consideration of an FCC order on amateur service rules released on Oct. 10, 2006, according to the FCC.
