The Germantown, Md.-based Farpoint Group, a wireless research advisory firm, recently released a report on Wi-Fi network interference issues. The firm found that common wireless devices and equipment frequently caused interference to wireless-LAN traffic. For example, microwave ovens caused throughput reduction of 62%; Bluetooth headsets caused throughput reduction of 20%; and some household devices such as cordless phones caused a 100% reduction in throughput, according to the report.
