The New York City Fire Department selected IBM to build a system for collecting and sharing data in real-time that could prevent fires and protect firefighters and other first responders when a fire does occur, the company announced. The fire department’s new Coordinated Building Inspection and Data Analysis System will use predictive modeling and data analytics to anticipate fire exposures, analyze possible impacts and improve processes, the company said.
