>Codan unveils HF radio systems
Codan launched the MRX Series of high-frequency (HF) radio systems, which provides an integrated deployment package that supports remote communications needs, from secure voice transmission to e-mail, fax, GPS, tracking and telephone support. The systems are self-contained and provide interoperability to a combination of HF, very-high-frequency and ultra-high-frequency radio networks. It is specially designed to deliver highly deployable, scalable and advanced HF communications for remote headquarters applications, according to the company.
GL Communications launches multi-link frame relay emulator
GL Communications has released its Multi-Link Frame Relay Emulator, a client server–based software application for T1 E1 hardware platforms. The MFR is similar to Multi-Link PPP, and both are a form of inverse multiplexing. Users rely on inverse multiplexing when access line capacity does not scale smoothly, such as big jumps in bandwidth from 56 kb/s, 1.544 Mb/s, and 45 Mb/s, according to the company.
ESRI, Trimble announce grant program
ESRI, a provider of geographic information system (GIS) software, and
Trimble, a provider of GPS solutions, have launched the 2009
Mobile Government Grant Program. The program will award hardware, software and training systems with a total of $89,980 to 20 state and local government agencies in the United States. ESRI and Trimble developed the program to foster innovative approaches to solving government problems through the combined use of GIS, GPS, mobile and server technology, according to the companies. Projects must demonstrate increased efficiencies in collecting data for decision support or increased productivity in delivering government services. Applicants can begin submitting their applications today. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. PST, Nov. 20. Awards will be announced Dec. 18.
