Genachowski appoints new PSHSB chief

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski named David Turetsky the new chief of the commission’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau. David Furth, currently serving as acting chief, will resume his role as deputy bureau chief.

Turetsky brings a number of years of senior U.S. government experience, including serving as deputy assistant attorney general for antitrust in the U.S. Department of Justice; and business experience as a senior lawyer and officer for Teligent, a fixed-wireless telecommunications and broadband services company. He joins the FCC from Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, where he was partner. At the firm, he focused on a wide range of regulated industries, including telecom, media, satellite, energy, and transportation.

Turetsky begins after Memorial Day.
