IWCE 2019 Wrap Up
This year, IWCE returned to Las Vegas where Editor Donny Jackson and his content team scoured the event to find the latest and most impressive gear and functionality. The evolution of critical communications has accelerated; however, some things haven’t changed. For example, voice remains the most important communications medium in difficult circumstances, and LMR continues to be the technology that is used most by first responders to deliver voice during times of crisis.
But much more has changed. Voice is not the only means to communicate during critical moments. Text, photos, video and data (especially location information) via IP-based broadband technologies increasingly have become key components of the communications package that officials use to inform consequential decisions.
