Exacom
said during the it has landed a contract to deploy its Homeland Security Notification and Deployment System (HANDS) at a U.S. Army base. The company did not disclose the name or location of the base. HANS delivers campus- or enterprise-wide alerts and notifications.
Exacom also said it has completed the first phase of a deployment at New York City-area airports operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Training on the system will begin next week at the Teeterboro, N.Y., airport, and will be operational in time for the Republican National Convention at the end of this month, said Exacom President Helmut Koch.
Installation is partially complete at Newark International and equipment is about to be shipped to John F. While essentially a wired system, HANS incorporates a radio interface card that allows it to connect to two-way land mobile radio systems, Koch said.
