Mobilisa received a two-year, $3.3 million contract by the U.S. Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center-Carderock, in West Bethesda, Md., to develop the hardware and software for a prototype system for the Littoral Sensor Grid, a combination of coastal sensor buoys configured with wireless communications that share data and network buoy-to-buoy, buoy-to-shore and to at-sea platforms. The research will focus on developing connectivity between video, acoustic, environmental and homeland security sensors to extend the protection zone around harbors, ports and seaways, according to the company.
