FCC staff member Steve Linn, 50, of Lower Allen Township, PA, and his wife Lesley Ellen, 44, were killed in an automobile-truck collision on Sept. 21 in Maryland. Linn was deputy chief of the Licensing and Technical Analysis Branch in Gettysburg, PA.

The couple’s two children, Deena, 10, and Andrew, 13, survived the wreck with cuts and bruises. Linn and his family were on the way to the Virginia Beach (VA) Hamfest, an amateur radio convention, when an 18-wheeler careened off the highway and back on, flipping on top of their car. The funeral was held on Sept. 24.

Linn had worked at the FCC for nearly 25 years. He frequently served as a source of information on the Universal Licensing System and the Commission Registration System. He was a frequent speaker at amateur radio functions, and had spoken about ULS during the 2000 Dayton Hamvention FCC forum and at the July Volunteer Examiner Coordinator Conference.
