Sinclair Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of fixed and mobile antennas and RF filter systems, announced this week that it had sold its Sinclabs distribution unit to Hutton Communications Inc., a distributor of commercial wireless communications and related equipment.
Sinclair established Sinclabs in 1980 to address the demand for accessories and after-market products from its Canadian customers. It subsequently evolved into a distributor of a wide range of RF products, and became Sinclair’s primary sales channel to support dealers and smaller accounts in Canada.
“The sale of Sinclabs to Hutton allows us to focus on our core business—the design and manufacture of high quality antenna and filter systems,” said David Ralston, president and CEO of Sinclair Technologies, in a statement.
In early 2003, to make its products more widely available to the Canadian market, Sinclair shifted from a direct sales model to a channel-focused distribution structure. The sale of Sinclabs to Hutton represents the final phase of Sinclair’s shift to a distribution model to better serve Canadian customers, the company said.
