Discussions begin for 2013 NFPA 72 code revision

The National Fire Protection Association currently is accepting comments from the public for the 2013 edition of National Fire Alarm code, or, NFPA 72, that sets standards for fire alarm systems.

FCC to consider new location-accuracy rules

FCC commissioners are scheduled to vote Thursday on a new E-911 location-accuracy requirement for emergency calls made from cellular phones, as well to launch a proceeding that would examine location-accuracy requirements for next-generation 911 systems.

Senate to conduct hearing on broadband network

Entitled “Keeping Us Safe: The Need for a Nationwide Public-Safety Network,” the hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST on Thursday. The hearing will be conducted by the Senate Commerce Committee.
