Nokia has been selected by Ningqi Railway in to provide a digital terrestrial trunked radio (TETRA) network for a new rail line that will operate between the cities of Nanjing and Qidong in Jiangsu Province, China. Network deliveries have begun, and the network is scheduled to be operating by June 2004. In addition to the network infrastructure, Nokia will provide handheld and mobile terminals, as well as the DXTip exchange, which enables the core network to use an IP-based backbone to connect different Nokia TETRA network elements.
