Report: Most UK companies shun RFID technology
A report issued by e.centre, a United Kingdom-based association that focuses on supply chain efficiency, indicated that 85% of UK companies have no plans to deploy radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. This despite the fact 88% survey respondents—supply chain managers from medium and large enterprises—called RFID a “beneficial technology.”
“The results of this survey show an alarming, widespread indifference to a technology that will bring significant benefits to business supply chains, said e.centre CEO Steve Coussins, in a statement.
However, the study also showed that retailers are “driving forward” the adoption of RFID, according to e.centre, which is consistent with a previous study done by the association that indicated 40% of respondents planned RFID deployments by 2005.
