AirNet Communications joins WiMAX Forum
AirNet Communications announced it has joined the WiMAX Forum, which is working to ensure the interoperability and compatibility of wireless broadband products based upon the IEEE 802.16 and ETSI HiperMAN wireless MAN specifications. AirNet manufactures software-defined base stations using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing technology.
The company said it recently demonstrated 256 sub-channel OFDM signals on its current carrier-grade base station and added that its technology is capable of supporting both the 256 sub-channel and 2048 subchannel OFDM waveforms defined in the 802.16b standards.
“As the 802.16 standard evolves, the WiMAX Forum should benefit from AirNet’s competencies,” said WiMAX Forum President Ron Resnick, in a statement.
